Overview

On March 31, 2021, Sinochem Group Co., Ltd. (Sinochem Group) and China National Chemical Corporation Ltd. (ChemChina) undertook a joint restructuring with the approval of the State Council. Sinochem Holdings Corporation Ltd. (Sinochem Holdings) was established on May 8, 2021, as the holding entity for Sinochem Group and ChemChina, wholly owned by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission on behalf of the State Council. 

Sinochem Group was established on March 10, 1950. Its predecessor, China Import Corporation, was the first state-owned trading enterprise after the founding of the People's Republic of China and Mr. Lu Xuzhang was appointed as its first President. 

ChemChina was founded on May 9, 2004, established on the basis of China National BlueStar (Group) Corporation, China Haohua Chemical (Group) Corporation and other companies.

2017

Sinochem Group Co., Ltd.

On December 26, 2017, Sinochem Group transited from being an enterprise owned by the whole people to being one solely state-owned, with a new company name of Sinochem Group Co., Ltd.

China National Chemical Corporation Ltd.

On December 4, 2017, China National Chemical Corporation changed from an enterprise owned by the whole people to one that is solely state-owned, with a new company name of China National Chemical Corporation Ltd.

2004

China National Chemical Corporation

On May 9, 2004, upon the approval of the State Council, China National BlueStar (Group) Corporation, China Haohua Chemical (Group) Corporation and other enterprises under the former Ministry of the Chemical Industry, co-established China National Chemical Corporation (ChemChina), specializing in new chemical materials and specialty chemicals.

Sinochem Group

On November 10, 2003, due to the mismatch between the company name and its business, positioning, market value, and development trend, China National Chemicals Import & Export Corporation was renamed as Sinochem Group with the approval of the State Assets Administration and Supervision Commission and State Administration for Industry and Commerce.

1965

China National Chemicals Import & Export Corporation

On June 12, 1965, the Ministry of Foreign Trade standardized the names of foreign trade enterprises for smoother communication with foreign partners and domestic institutions. On July 16, China Chemicals Import & Export Corporation was renamed China National Chemicals Import & Export Corporation.

1961

China Chemicals Import & Export Corporation

On January 1, 1961, after restructuring the administrative units and enterprises affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Trade, China Chemicals Import & Export Corporation was renamed as China Chemicals Import & Export Corporation.

1951

China Import & Export Corporation

On January 8, 1951, the preparation team for China Import & Export Corporation was set up with staff from China Import Corporation and its subsidiaries in North China. On February 13, entrusted by the Ministry of Trade, China Import & Export Corporation began to oversee the import & export business of relevant institutions in Hong Kong. On March 1, the company officially opened and started trading with capitalist countries.

1950

China Import Corporation

On March 10, 1950, the central government set up a nationwide foreign trade enterprise under the Ministry of Trade, in order to unify state trading, fulfill national set target of the import & export volume, lead domestic market, strike a balance between supply and demand across the country, and boost the recovery and development of domestic production, leading to the formal establishment of China Import Corporation, the predecessor of Sinochem Group.

2004

China National Chemical Corporation.

 

On May 9, 2004, upon approval of the State Council, China National BlueStar (Group) Co, Ltd., China Haohua Chemical Industry (Group) Corporation and other enterprises formerly directly under the former Ministry of the Chemical Industry, People’s Republic of China established China National Chemical Corporation(ChemChina Corporation) after recombination, with industrial characteristics in new chemical materials and specialty chemicals.
